Out of Dodge

Thursday night I ran away.... more like drove away, far away to my sister's school. Left the boys at home for the weekend for some father son bonding time while I became one with the road. I arrived slightly after 4:00 am in the morning and save for a few short sleep sessions it has been a weekend jam packed with sisterly madness and fun!

A more detailed debriefing is sure to come.... for now, some photo teasers:

the beginning of my first real painting....

This is a person we passed on the street playing the accordion in an ape suit

Normal life will resume shortly, but as for now? I'm not thinking about it... there's still some red paint left in this can!

  1. First of all, your outfit in the first picture is absolutely spectacular. The colors colliding with the patterns, amazing. Topping it off with the gray chucks (one of the best pairs of shoes I own as well) gives it edge while it also presents sophistication, comfort, and creativity. You look awesome!
Secondly, I can't wait to see the finished product of your painting. I haven't painted in years, it inspires me to break out the easel.
Last but not least, the passed out accordion-playing gorilla makes my day.

  2. Thank you! I'm a big fan of layering and mixing textures/patterns. And the Chucks were an absolute necessity with the amount of walking we were doing!

The painting is no where near done, and it likely won't wind up being at all like what I picture it to be in my mind, but I'm considering it a test run for the real thing. I'm pretty satisfied with my progress though being that it was my first attempt at acrylics... not to mention my first serious attempt to paint anything... ever!
